Project Management Institute®
Many Colorado Technical University degree programs provide students with the in-depth knowledge of project management that can be invaluable to their careers. Much of our program content has been reviewed by the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
CTU is a Project Management Institute Recognized Education Provider and so all of our project management courses and programs carry this indication of quality. PMI-R.E.P.™ status ensures that the content of our courses and programs is in alignment with the Project Management Institute’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and that our graduates are well prepared to take PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification exam.
Six of our programs are also Globally Accredited by PMI™ through PMI-GAC. The PMI® Global Accreditation Center (GAC) serves two fundamental purposes — to ensure the quality of academic degree programs in project management and to assist faculty and universities in the improvement of degree programs. Using a thorough review process, the GAC ensures the scope and quality of academic programs. As a student, you can be assured these programs meet the high standards set forth by the GAC. Additionally, graduates of these programs receive 1,500 hours of project management experience toward earning their Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential.
What is PMI®?
The Project Management Institute (PMI®) is the world's leading not-for-profit project management professional association. PMI® has over 100,000 members worldwide, providing global leadership and developing standards of practice for project management professionals.
Since 1984, PMI® has developed and maintained a rigorous, examination-based professional certification program to help project managers reach the peaks of their professions.
Why is PMI® important?
The Project Management Institute has taken the lead in establishing accreditation standards for post-secondary degrees and master certificates in programs primarily focused on project management.
The graduate and undergraduate content offered by CTU has been reviewed by PMI® and found to be relevant to project management and consistent with the knowledge and process areas described in the Guide to the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
The PMBOK Guide is a globally recognized standard for managing projects in today's marketplace. The PMBOK Guide is approved as an American National Standard (ANS) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). PMI® is committed to the continuous improvement and expansion of the PMBOK® Guide, as well as the development of additional standards.
