Colorado Technical University Pueblo Campus Receives Accreditation from The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs
July 9, 2009
PUEBLO, Colo. (July 09, 2009) - The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) announced that the Colorado Technical University (CTU) surgical technology program at its Pueblo campus is officially recognized as CAAHEP accredited.
The CTU Pueblo campus is the only school in southern Colorado that offers a CAAHEP accredited associate degree program in surgical technology and, with this accreditation, program graduates will be eligible to take the voluntary Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credentialing examination offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
CAAHEP, the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field, works with its Committees on Accreditation to accredit programs in 20 different allied health occupations. In order to be granted programmatic accreditation, CTU demonstrated that the surgical technology program at its Pueblo campus met all CAAHEP standards.
“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our faculty and staff, CTU is proud to announce this new programmatic accreditation,” said CTU Pueblo campus president Greg Mitchell. “With the continuing growth of the health sciences field, our goal is to offer the most career beneficial program to our students. Having CAAHEP programmatic accreditation is not only a validation of the quality of our existing surgical technology program, but we believe our students, with a proper dose of personal initiative, will have a competitive edge when they enter the health industry.”
CTU Pueblo offers degrees in the areas of business, criminal justice, health sciences and information systems. CTU offers flexible options such as online classes and night classes to ensure education can fit into every student’s life. The faculty and staff of CTU Pueblo are dedicated to providing its students with the skills they will need to succeed in the real world.
